Invanovic will be lending her support as we raise the necessary awareness and funds to improve the lives of children and young people living in extreme poverty.

“I am proud to be an Ambassador for the Quercus Foundation.  I know how important it is for children to have a dream. I admire and am inspired by Diego Biasi and the Quercus Foundation who are working to make dreams possible for children in need in underprivileged areas”, says Ivanovic.

Ivanovic’s story also sybmolises the belief that anything you can imagine, you can make real. She dreamt about becoming a professional sportswoman when she was five years old. As a child she had to train in an empty swimming pool in Belgrade because there were so few tennis courts in Serbia. Even during NATO’s bombing campaign, she continued to train inbetween the air raid sirens, driven by her belief and the dream to become a professional and the world’s No.1 tennis player.

Ivanovic has a passion for philanthropy, taking part in many events with children including going into classrooms and visiting orphanages. Ana’s efforts do not stop there, taking opportunities to promote good causes in dozens of columns in top selling newspapers to raise awareness of various causes close to her heart. All of these charitable efforts have been recognised, not only by her fellow professionals in 2007 when Ana was the recipient of the WTA Tour Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award, but by the USA when she was nominated for the U.S. Secretary of State’s 2007 International Women of Courage Award.

“We feel very fortunate to have Ana as an ambassador for the Quercus Foundation, she stands as a great example of how to overcome challenges both on and off the court. We look forward to a long and fruitful partnership and making a positive difference to children’s lives”, said Diego Biasi.

We are delighted to have such an inspiring and humble ambassador join our mission.
